By: Cole Liggett

BROOKLYN, Ohio – The second game of the night was between the Shaker Heights Red Raiders (8-2-0) went up against Hudson Explorers (8-2-0). The Red Raiders came out on ice with white/red jerseys while rocking the red shells and Hudson was wearing their navy blue jersey with black shells. It was a game for the ages as it took three overtimes to decide the outcome of the game as Shaker Heights defeat Hudson in triple overtime 5-4.

Hudson came out shooting and Maxwell Cole was the first to score for Hudson as Hudson moved up 1-0 at the 12:06 mark. Shaker Heights bounced back and tied it up after Daniel Ritts scored a goal to make it a 1-1 game.

Hudson took the lead after Eric Halford scored with 4:32 left in the first period that moved the Explorers into the lead. Shaker Heights tied it back up after scoring a goal with under ten seconds to go in the first from a Patrick Richards goal that made it a 2-2 game at the end of the first period.

Hudson scored at the 7:28 mark from a goal by Alex Nawn that made it a 3-2 game in the second period. Shaker then scored with a power play goal from a Evan Grossman-McKee with 5:28 in the game to tie the game up at 3.

Overtime was not enough for the two teams as they came out and took shots, yet at the end of the extra period no one had scored.

It took until the third overtime to put this one to sleep as Ben Greenberg plowed through Explorer defenders to hit the game winning shot to put the Shaker Heights into the Baron Cup I Championship and will go against the winner of the Cleveland Heights/North Olmsted game.

Eli Mooneyham from NEOSI got the game winning shot, check it out below.
